Mandatory Safety Requirements for Boat Rentals
EFFECTIVE 9 May 2019
The Tennessee General Assembly passed an amendment to TCA Title 69, Chapter 9, that “requires a marina, livery, or other rental operation to provide motorboat orientation to a renter before hiring, leasing, or renting a motorboat to the renter.” The Companion bill was assigned Public Chapter Number 267.
In order to meet this requirement, persons renting a boat from Gear To Go must complete the following prior to being issued a power boat:
Go to rentalboatsafety.com/power-boats and watch the four videos found on the top right:
- Introduction
- Negligent Operation
- Life Jackets
- Children on Board
After you have watched all four videos, take the assessment test.
Print and complete the appropriate checklist and bring a copy of it to Gear To Go (they are required to obtain a copy and maintain it in their records.)
